Counselling
We all face challenges in our lives: Some we manage ourselves; with others, we need some help.

Jewish Family Services offers compassionate and effective counselling and support services. Our team of licensed therapists is equipped to address a broad range of personal and family issues including depression, stress and anxiety, parenting issues, marital conflict, separation and divorce and loss and bereavement. Trained specialists also work in the areas of chronic pain, fertility, gambling, sexual orientation, conjugal violence and eating disorders.

Services may be provided through:
 - Individual, marital and family counselling;
 - Play, art and drama therapies for children, adolescents and their families;
 - Support groups.

Counselling is available in English, French or Hebrew and services are offered in several Montreal-area and West Island locations. Counselling fees are reasonable and are covered by many private insurance plans.

Marriage Check-up
How can newly married couples tell if they are on the right track in their relationship? To whom do they turn when confronted with a question that they can't seem to resolve? The JFS Marriage Check-up is an effective communication vehicle for broaching topics before issues arise. It allows couples to identify and build upon strengths that already exist within their relationship.

Working in collaboration with Rabbis and in partnership with a private donor, JFS offers engaged or newly married couples a Marriage Check-up certificate entitling them to two to three free sessions with a JFS licensed marital therapist. Couples can arrange the sessions either before the wedding or soon after. At their first appointment, couples will complete a questionnaire that will be used as a tool for promoting discussion. Couples may be asked to rate their strengths and weakness on such topics as their relationship with in-laws, money, sex and household chores.
